AI Tool Policy

For Authors

Starting from 2026, on Vol. 8, Issue 1, the use or non-use of AI tools, such as Copy AI, Prosa.ai, Revoicer, QuillBot AI, and others, must be stated in the article.

If authors do not use AI tools at all, please state that “The authors stated that this article is the original work of the authors without using AI tools for writing sentences and/or creating/editing tables and figures in this manuscript”.

Note:

  1. The International Journal of Engineering, Technology and Natural Sciences (IJETS), published by Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta (UTY), strictly prohibits the use of generative AI or AI tools to generate sentences/image creation/image modification in any form.
  2. The use of AI tools to draw insights from data as part of the research process, rather than to produce the sentences, tables, and figures in the article, is permitted.
  3. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, nor should they be cited as such.

If authors use AI tools, please state for what purpose the AI tools are used and what the names of the AI tools used are. The following lists are the common uses of AI tools to help authors:

  1. Checking the grammar use in the manuscript (Grammarly, Hemingway App, Linguix, Reverso, etc.);
  2. Improving coherence and cohesiveness to get better readability and understandability of readers (website-based AI Tools, e.g., ChatGPT, Copy AI, Prosa.ai, Revoicer, QuillBot AI, etc.)

Hereby, authors must mention the tool’s name and state that they have rechecked the accuracy and correctness of the data and language used, and have consulted an English language expert for validation and verification (please specify the name of the expert or the institution). The checking process must be carried out manually, as AI generally produces sentences that sound overconfident and authoritative, and may introduce changes in meaning that can be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. However, authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the whole content of the article.

*Example statement: “The grammatical structure of this article was improved by using ChatGPT, and the authors have rechecked the accuracy and correctness of the generated sentences with the topic and data of this study. The data and language used in this article have been validated and verified by an English language expert, and none of the AI-generated sentences are included in this article.

 

For Reviewers

  1. It is strictly prohibited to use AI-Tools for review, as the information provided by AI-Tools may not be in accordance with the article context, incomplete, or biased.
  2. The manuscript sent to reviewers must not be uploaded into AI tools, as the documents sent are confidential and may violate the authors’ property rights. If the data or information contains personal identification, it may violate data privacy rights.

 

For Editors

  1. The manuscript submitted by the authors is confidential. Thus, the editor must not upload the manuscript to AI tools. This may violate the rights of authors’ property and data privacy.
  2. The prohibition on uploading documents to AI tools also applies to notification letters or emails from authors, including for language translation purposes.
  3. Editors must not use AI tools in the article evaluation process or manuscript decision-making, as it may lead to incorrect, incomplete, or biased conclusions about the manuscript.
  4. The editor is responsible for the editorial process, decision-making, and communication with authors.
